Yen-Tsun Huang, 30, a Taiwan citizen living in Austin, was a passenger in a vehicle crossing through a checkpoint in Falfurrias, a town Southwest of Corpus Christi, on July 4, 2020 at the Texas Border Patrol, according to a news release from the US Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Texas.
As the man approached the checkpoint, he took his first bite out of a McDonald’s Big Mac.
One of the agents found that strange. The nearest McDonald’s was more than 60 miles away. The agent found it odd that the man would start eating at the exact moment he got to the checkpoint.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, a service dog detected narcotics and the car was sent for a second inspection.
The burger eater was searched and agents found three bundles of meth taped to his legs.
The driver and another passenger in the car said they knew nothing about the narcotics.
Huang was sentenced by a district judge to 7 1/2 years in federal prison. He will be under federal supervision after release and will most likely be deported.
