Kevin Spacey, 62, is in the news again, facing trial in London.
The Hollywood actor accused of four incidents of sexual assault against three men, appeared in a London court on Thursday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. He also pleaded not guilty to another charge of sexual assault, in which he allegedly forced a man to perform oral sex on him.
The alleged incidents occurred between 2005-2013 in London and Gloucestershire, England, while Spacey served as artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre in London.
Spacey ran the theater for 11 years.
An American actor, Anthony Rapp, accused Spacey of sexual advances, assault and inappropriate behavior, when Rapp was only 14-years-old.
After Spacey left employment at the theater, the staff did an investigation and uncovered 20 allegations of inappropriate behavior. They encouraged victims to report the allegations to the police.
As a result, the actor was investigated in 2019 by British police, in response to the claims of several men.
The allegations forced the actor to leave his famous role as politician Frank Underwood, on the popular series, “House of Cards.”
In 2019, a charge of groping an 18-year-old young man was brought against Spacey in Massachusetts, but the case was dropped.
Spacey’s trial is expected to start in June of 2023 and the actor is out on bail. If convicted, he could face six months in prison, according to Reuters reporting.
His lawyer says that he adamantly denies criminality.
When police charged Spacey in May 2022, the actor stated he would prove his innocence, in statements to the press and “Good Morning America.”
Kevin Spacey was fired from his role in “1242: Gateway to the West,” a historical drama that was shown in the Cannes Film Festival, due to the sexual assault charges.
The sexual assault cases have been going on for several years, and the trial has been scheduled for almost a year from now. Meanwhile, Spacey has been out on bail and free to live his life, which he hopes to get back to normal someday.
