Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and former White House adviser, underwent thyroid surgery for cancer for the second time last week, according to a statement on August 30 by a source close to Mr. Kushner. The anonymous source said Mr. Kushner is expected to make a full recovery.
Most people do not know that Kushner had previously gone through surgery for thyroid cancer, while he was serving in the White House.
However, in Kushner’s recently published book, “Breaking History: A White House Memoir,” he revealed that he had surgery in 2019.
In the book, Kushner wrote that luckily his cancer was found early, but surgery was required in remove part of his thyroid.
Kushner, 41, was with his wife, Ivanka, at the Mayo Clinic on August 9, at which point the second surgery was recommended.
Kushner apparently kept his original diagnosis secret. In the book, when writing about the 2019 surgery, he wrote, “We scheduled the operation for the Friday before Thanksgiving. That way, I would miss the least amount of time in the office. My absence might even go unnoticed. That’s how I wanted it.” Kushner said that he asked his doctor not to share the diagnosis with his father-in-law, Donald Trump.
Turns out that while Kushner did not, allegedly, tell Trump about his diagnosis, he found out anyway.
