13-Year-Old Causes Drug Overdose of California School Supervisor

A 13-year-old teen inadvertently caused the drug overdose of a school supervisor in California.

The middle school student brought a bottle containing 150 fentanyl pills to school in order to sell them at the Chipman Junior High School on Friday. The pill bottle was labeled Percocet, to hide the truth about the pills.

The student happened to get into a fight or argument with another student, and the school supervisor discovered the pills on him while he was breaking up the fight, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Although the supervisor did not take any of the pills by mouth, he opened the pill bottle to expect it and see what it was, and was exposed to the drug’s effects via inhalation, which caused him to overdose.

A police officer in the school gave the supervisor Narcan and he was treated at a local hospital, where he is recovering.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid, similar to morphine but  it is 50 to 100 times more potent.

The student was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for selling, and was sent to juvenile hall.
