Bill Barr Defends FBI Raid on Trump Mar-a-Lago Estate

In reference to the raid on former president Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and club, former Attorney General Bill Barr, who used to be a Trump loyalist, said, “This is not just failing to return a library book.”

He believes that the Department of Justice is getting close to having enough evidence to indict Trump, and from what Barr has said, it could be concluded that Barr believes Trump should be indicted, but doesn’t want him to be, because he feels it will raise tensions in the United States

A lot of arrests raise tensions in the US, but not everyone is above the law, so people get arrested.

On an interview on Fox News, Barr said he thinks the DOJ is “very close.”

Still seemingly arguing the same talking points he used during the Mueller investigation, Barr told Fox, “I think at the end of the day, there’s another question… that is do you indict a former president? What will that do to the country? What kind of precedent will that set – will the people really understand that this is not, you know, failing to return a library book that this was serious?”

Maybe he wants him indicted… maybe he doesn’t. He definitely doesn’t feel it’s a big deal not to return a library book.

Barr said he doesn’t agree with the decision of Judge Eileen Cannon who ruled that a “special master” can be appointed to review the documents seized at Mar-a-Lago, which will slow the investigation. Barr said that he hopes that the DOJ appeals the judge’s ruling.

Barr explained why the FBI took personal documents in the raid. He said that having personal documents stored with classified documents showed the way Trump and his team were storing the classified information.

Barr has done a lot of criticizing of Donald Trump since the FBI raid on August 8, when the agency seized more than 11,000 documents and photographs, many classified, including what has recently been reported as the nuclear secrets of other countries. Barr has also said he doesn’t necessarily believe Trump’s claims about declassifying the documents.

Barr said that the FBI was right to do the raid and shouldn’t have waited so long. In television interviews, he defended the DOJ and FBI and told Fox News on Friday, “The facts are starting to show that they were being jerked around, so how long do they wait?”

So, it is unclear whether Bill Barr is concerned about the future of Donald Trump, but he seems to be very concerned about the future of the country.
