On September 11, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were sent an invitation to attend a reception for the following Saturday before the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The memorial was sponsored by the new King, Charles II, and his wife, the Queen Consort, Camilla, to be held at Buckingham Palace.
Certainly a lavish affair which would be attended by royals and several other dignitaries. Anyone would be honored to be on the list of invitees.
After receiving the invitation, they found out, from the press, that they weren’t actually invited.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “baffled” by what happened. Probably a bit embarrassed as well.
It appears that the pair were not officially told that they were uninvited to the gathering. Someone must have slipped up in all the chaos after the Queen’s death.
Not a good scene for Harry and Meghan, who were already having personal problems stemming from their controversial conflicts with the rest of the royal family, including dad Charles and brother William.
World leaders such as President Joe Biden, President Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and foreign royals were invited to attend.
A spokesperson for the royal family wrote, “The invite is for working members of the royal family only.”
Since Prince Harry gave up his royal duties (he basically said doesn’t want the job and all that comes with it), when he and Meghan moved to California, he has to face the consequences of his decisions.
Prince Harry hit another snag when he requested to be able to wear his military uniform to the funeral. As a captain in the army who did two tours in Afghanistan, he is proud of his service. But only working royals are allowed to wear the uniform. He had to get permission from his father. The King obliged.
When Harry and Meghan moved to the US and stepped down as working members of the family in 2021, it created bad feelings between the couple and Prince William and his wife, Kate.
Harry and Meghan’s frequent talks with the press didn’t make things any better.
The air may have felt pretty icy when the brothers were together at the extravagant ceremonies for their grandmother.
A source close to the family has revealed that Meghan wrote a letter to King Charles III, her father-in-law, requesting to speak with him privately.
Was she bowing down to the King? Or stirring the pot?
