Prince William Just Inherited $1.2 Billion and More is Coming

Being a British royal has its ups and downs and Prince William has a lot of responsibilities. He also has a lot of stress with paparazzi, every day worries about family, and knowing someday he may be king.

Life may be a little easier, knowing he’s inheriting $1.2 billion dollars.

It’s certainly no surprise to him. As the first son of King Charles and Lady Diana, he knew what he was in for.

He will inherit a 685-year old estate in Cornwall from his father. That’s 140,000 acres. Nice.

He is also very likely to inherit from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Her estate is worth about half a billion dollars. Included are two estates – Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House (both inherited from her father King George VI), plus artworks, jewelry and investments worth millions.

And in case he ever runs out of money, he can probably depend on the rest of the family to help him. The entire royal family is worth about $21 billion. Much of that fortune will be inherited by Charles and eventually William. As is well known, Prince William is in the line of succession after King Charles.

Prince Harry, his brother, on the other hand, is further down in the line of succession, which probably suits Harry, and his wife Meghan, just fine.

The Royals have a great deal with the government and people of the UK. They are not required to pay taxes. However, Queen Elizabeth II did agree to help out, and paid income tax since 1993, which King Charles will continue to do. The public raised a fuss about the royals paying taxes. They are not obliged to do so.

The Duke of Cornwall (now William, formerly Charles) does contribute to charity and helps fund public and private activities, according to the website of the Duke of Cornwall.

There’s still plenty left in the pot for the royal family. In fact, in 2021, the Duke of Cornwall, Charles, paid himself $25 million from the Cornwall estate.

King Charles has other estates that will be inherited by William, and even though money goes to the government and there are restrictions on spending, the royal family manages to carve out a nice slice for their own use.

Sounds like it’s not a royal pain in the you-know-what to be a royal.
