A young man of 17 years will be facing a grand jury for an incident on the evening of September 9 at about 10:40 pm. Gunshots were heard near downtown Houston in the vicinity of Channelview, Texas.

A press release issued by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shots were fired by a 17-year-old teenager, after three armed men wearing masks invaded his house, which was occupied by his mother, his twin brother, and a 12-year-old brother.

Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez said in a press release that a shotgun was used and it belonged to the family. Two of the three men who tried to burglarize the house were found lying wounded on the house’s front lawn. EMS personnel pronounced the two perpetrators dead on the spot.

Investigators said that the two dead men were accompanied by a third man. The young man had fired several times at the three men, but the third managed to escape in a dark sedan

The family said they didn’t know the intruders personally.

The Sheriff said he believes that the boy was justified in defending his family and shooting at the house invaders. The case is being investigated by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Officers are working to uncover more information as to who the suspects are and whether there was any underlying relationship between the men and the family.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office will present the case to a grand jury to determine whether charges should be brought against the 17-year-old boy.
