King Charles III’s Nickname for Meghan Markle Compliments Her Strength

King Charles III’s nickname for his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, has been revealed in a new book about the royal family.

Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair reporter, royal expert and author, released her new book, titled “The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown,” which reveals that King Charles III called Meghan Markle “Tungsten,” a rare metal that is very dense and has the highest melting point of any metallic element. It is almost impossible to melt tungsten.

According to Nicholl, the king nicknamed her “Tungsten” because of Markle’s tenacity and resilience.

It may have been a compliment, but calling Meghan resilient seems to be insensitive to the mental health challenges she was going through when being hounded by the paparazzi in the UK.  Or maybe he had a lot of faith in her ability to cope with the abuse.

A source for Nicholls’s book revealed that Meghan was very polished and funny and used the skills she had learned throughout her acting career to present her case and explain her points passionately. Charles took note of Meghan’s confident and capable characteristics paired with her likable personality.

While the book revealed that King Charles II used the nickname “Tungsten” to refer to Meghan fondly, it is unknown if the King still calls Meghan “Tungsten,” or if he addresses her at all, after she and Prince Harry decided to quit their royal duties two years ago. They moved across the world to California, where they live with their two children, three-year-old Archie, and one-year-old Lilibet.

The strife in the royal family was apparent at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September as Prince Harry and his wife sat apart from Prince William and his wife. Meghan reportedly sought to meet with King Charles to clear the air during that time.

Prince Harry and Meghan decided to get away from royal life and raise their kids among other “normal” children in the US in 2020 because of the widespread bullying that Meghan experienced from the British media with little to no support from the rest of the royal family, as she perceived it.

Since Meghan and Harry announced they were engaged, the British media spewed so much hate on the soon-to-be duchess, negatively affecting her and the prince’s mental health.

In their explosive 2021 interview with Oprah, part of the Apple TV+ series The Me You Can’t See, the couple revealed that they had to get away from the British media and royal life to focus on their mental health and raise their kids in a non-toxic environment. They said that they had experienced some racist remarks about the color of their son Archie.

Prince Harry told Oprah that he made the decision when his wife told him she was having suicidal thoughts. According to him, he wanted to protect her from his mother’s tragic fate as he noticed similarities in his mother’s and wife’s lives.

Prince Harry told Oprah that his wife Meghan Markle didn’t act on the suicidal ideation she was experiencing while pregnant with their son Archie because she didn’t want to cause Harry further pain in his life.
