Amber Alert Ends Tragically for One-Year-Old Girl and Her Father

An Amber alert was issued on November 1 in Rosenberg, Texas for an abduction of a one-year-old girl by her 24-year-old father.

The dad, Alexander Barrios Ordonez, first went to the business of his former employer, a man named Ruben Salazar, and stabbed him and stole his truck.

He then drove to the house of his daughter’s babysitter and kidnapped his little girl, Leylani Ordonez.

After the kidnapping was reported, police tracked the man down, but a high-speed chase ensued for at least an hour. When the cops finally stopped the truck with a spike strip, the father exited the truck with his little girl in his arms, and it was clear that the child was covered with blood and had been stabbed by her father.

Rosenberg Police Department Lt. Suni Jugueta said, “We don’t know the exact moment when the baby was injured. But we do know that when he exited the vehicle, the baby was already bloody.”

When the police approached and cornered Ordonez, he stabbed himself. He and the young child died from their wounds.

Although police say that Ordonez didn’t have a criminal record, the mother of the slain child said he was depressed.

“I’d never thought he would be the type to hurt her,” the girl’s mother, who did not want to be named, told media outlet  KTRK. “When we split up, he wasn’t mentally stable, talking about killing himself. I didn’t want my daughter around that.”

The owner of the truck is expected to recover from his injuries after medical attention.
