A woman in Ohio was charged with the murder of her grandmother. The incident happened on November 15. Eaton, Ohio police responded to a 911 call to the 300 block of East Somers Street at around 6 pm and found Alice Methany, 93, dead in her bathtub.
Her granddaughter, Heidi Methany, 35, admitted to police that she had drowned her grandmother in a kitchen sink and to make sure the deed was done, she submerged her in the bathtub. Eaton Police Chief Steve Hurd told reporters that Heidi Methany confessed to the crime.
The police report stated that Methany brought her grandmother to a doctor’s appointment on the same day, and had been told that her elderly family member should be put in a nursing home.
The two did not have the money to pay for a nursing home, and the senior did not have any insurance to help cover the cost. Heidi Methany admitted to the police that when the two arrived back at the apartment after the doctor’s appointment, she grabbed her grandmother while she was washing the dishes, forced her head under the open faucet, and kept it there until, in her words, “She stopped blowing bubbles.” She then filled the bathtub and submerged the woman under the water for another 15 minutes until she was sure she had stopped breathing.
The cold-blooded killer then left the apartment and walked to the sheriff’s office, where she admitted to the crime. When asked what led up to the drowning, Heidi Matheny said, “Nothing special. It was like any other day.”
Heidi Methany is charged with murder and is being held in a Preble County jail on $500,000 bail.
