A driver and a passenger in Connecticut are extremely lucky to be alive today after they got into a motor vehicle accident that caused a 60 foot steel guardrail to pierce through their vehicle.
Horrifying pictures and videos taken by first responders show the aftermath of the accident and just how close the occupants came to death. The footage and pictures show the vehicle impaled by the massive guardrail.
The accident happened on December 26, off Interstate 384 in Manchester, Connecticut.
The Manchester Fire Rescue Team EMS uploaded the pictures to Facebook, saying how “miraculous” it was that the driver and passenger had survived the accident and came out of the vehicle with no major injuries.
The fire rescue team said that the occupants only sustained minor injuries, and paramedics with the fire department had transported them to a local hospital where they were treated.
The post detailed how the single-vehicle accident caused the steel guardrail on the interstate to separate and pierce through the car through the passenger compartment. It lodged between the two front seats, exited the vehicle through the rear, and extended about 20 feet outside the car.
Accidents with guardrails piercing through a car are not unheard of, but in this case, the guardrail traveled through almost the entire car and beyond, and both occupants survived with only minor injuries.
The video showed a guardrail, twisted possibly by the sheer force of the accident, extending out from the tire area in the rear driver’s side of a black sedan.
As the person recording the video moves closer to the vehicle, the guardrail is seen piercing the car’s rear, continuing on its way through the vehicle’s center console, passing through the front passenger seat, and passing through the engine area, where it sliced up the engine components.
The video also shows a firefighter using a circular saw to cut the guardrail and separate it from the car.
It is unknown what the driver’s speed was at the time of the crash, but it must have been high for something like that to happen.

Although news about people dying daily on the road due to speeding is widespread, many people are still ignorant of the dangers of speeding.
In 2019, a police officer wrote a letter to a speeding teenager warning him of the consequences. In the letter, which went viral, the cop said that he could narrate numerous stories about dead teenagers and all the broken and unrecognizable bodies he has had to pull from cars. He noted that teens think they are invincible, but they are not.
