Police arrested a man in Arizona on December 26 on various charges, including sex trafficking, after a neighbor saw him fighting with a woman in the front yard of an apartment complex in Scottsdale.
Steven Hurry, 60, was involved in a heated argument with a female when a neighbor reportedly heard him telling the woman that he would beat her up, followed by screams from the woman.
According to Scottsdale police, the neighbor called them, saying something was fishy about the two. When officers arrived at the home, the woman told them she was a sex trafficking victim.
Officers arrested Hurry at the scene and booked him on charges including sex trafficking, sexual abuse, assault, aggravated assault, pandering, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage.
According to court documents, the two had been living together for several months. They moved in together in May 2022 and were living in California. She worked as a housekeeper for him until May 25, when Hurry asked her to move with him to Arizona, where they would make more money.
Their first stop was Tucson, and Hurry allegedly took photos of her for a sexual service advertisement he wanted to create. The first time she had sex for money, she made $700 in 20 minutes, and Hurry took all the money.
Hurry collected all her documents, including her social security card, and hid them in a box.
The victim said Hurry forced her to have sex for money, and he would become violent and at one point strangled her. The two moved to an Airbnb rental Scottsdale in November.
Hurry created ads with her photos, charging $350 for a full hour of sex or a quickie lasting 15 minutes for $120.
Their final fight outside the apartment happened after the victim told Hurry that she wanted to quit having commercial sex.
Police obtained evidence of the victim’s story. The man recorded each sexual encounter on a camera and downloaded it onto a hard drive, according to court papers.
The defendant is being held on a $50,000 bond.
