In spite of several new lawsuits against him, Bill Cosby is talking about returning to the stage to entertain all the fans who love him.
He made the surprise announcement on December 28 during an interview on “WGH Talk” radio with host Scott Spears. He is thinking about doing a world tour this year.
While planning his future career, Cosby and his lawyers are dealing with yet another woman who is accusing the comedian of sexual assault.
Stacy Pinkerton filed a new lawsuit against Cosby, accusing him of drugging and raping her in 1986 when she was 21 and working on her career as a model and actress.
Her lawyers filed the lawsuit in the Manhattan Supreme Court in New York.
One of Cosby’s attorneys said that the lawsuit is just another example of a woman trying to squeeze money out of the famous comedian.
After being released from prison in June 2021, Cosby has been enjoying his freedom. He was given a three to ten-year sentence in 2018 for drugging and sexually assaulting another victim, but the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction in June 2021, and he was released from prison the same day.
Pinkerton’s lawsuit says that when she was 21, Cosby invited her to New York City, while he was filming The Cosby Show. She says that Cosby gave her money, a part in his show, and a place to live. After her role in the show was cut, she met Cosby in a restaurant in Chicago, where she alleges he drugged her and took her back to his hotel room, sexually assaulted her, and she managed to get away while he was sleeping.
She admits that she did not file a sexual assault charge at the time because she was intimidated by the comedian’s power and influence.
Dozens of women have accused the celebrity of drugging and raping them. He has denied all the accusations.
Even though Pinkerton’s alleged rape occurred over 25 years ago, there is a new law in New York, the Adult Survivors Act, which allows sexual assault victims to sue their attackers several years after the attacks.
In addition to the Pinkerton lawsuit, another five new sexual assault accusations were made against the 85-year-old comedian in December 2022.
The new law in New York has allowed the five new accusers – Jewel Gittens, Cindra Ladd, Lili Bernard, Jennifer Thompson, and Eden Tirl – to file their lawsuit even though the alleged incidents happened a long time ago.
Tirl and Bernard also had roles on The Cosby Show, just like Pinkerton did.
In their lawsuit, the women accuse Cosby of using his fame, power, and influence to abuse and manipulate them. They also accuse the companies that managed The Cosby Show for allegedly enabling and aiding Cosby with his criminal behavior.
Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s publicist and crisis manager (no doubt a busy guy), said that the tour will tentatively begin in the middle of 2023.
According to Wyatt, a lot of fans love and miss Bill Cosby’s performances.
“We have so many, I mean, hundreds of thousands of supporters just asking for him to do a show,” Wyatt said. “We have so many promoters across the country. He is in high demand.”
