Police and friends were shocked on January 11 to find out that a Texas newlywed couple’s difficulties were so bad that they led to murder.
Police were called by the father of the groom when he discovered that his son had killed his new wife.
Deputies arrived at a rural home in Waller County and found the decapitated body of Anggy Diaz. She was only 21 years old. She had been killed by her new husband, Jared James Dicus.
The Waller County Sheriff, Troy Guidry, told reporters they arrested Dicus, her husband of three months, and charged him with her murder.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies received the 911 call from Dicus’ father about a murder in the house on Oak Hollow Blvd around 4:30 pm. They found the horrifying scene inside the home Diaz shared with her husband, next door to his parents’ house.
Police had received earlier complaints about domestic disturbances in the home, but no one suspected the gruesome outcome they found on January 7.
Dicus had used a kitchen knife to kill his wife and then decapitated her.
Friends of Diaz told the media said that she was from Nicaragua and had been working two jobs to save money to pay for her mother’s cancer treatment in her home country.
She was described by colleagues as a hardworking and joyful young woman who always had a smile on her face.
Sheriff Guidry said the young woman’s head, severed from her body, was found in the house. It is not clear how long she had been dead.
Dicus’ father had a “bad feeling” and decided to check out his son and daughter-in-law’s house. When he found what his son had done, he called police and Dicus and his parents waited for the officers to arrive. They were all taken to the police station for questioning. Dicus confessed to killing and decapitating his wife.
The couple was married in October 2022 after meeting at her work. Her friends said they suspected something was wrong between them, but murder was the furthest thing from their minds.
They seemed to be a happy couple on Facebook.
