A recent royal source said that King Charles III is not only willing, but eager to reconcile with his younger son, Prince Harry, despite Harry’s constant claims to the contrary.
According to The Telegraph, sources close to King Charles insist that he has always said how much he loves both his sons and has kept all communication channels open in the last few years, despite Harry and Meghan’s numerous interviews criticizing the royal family.
In his most recent interviews which aired on television on Sunday, Prince Harry again said that he has no contact with his father or brother.
This conflicts with what sources are saying – that Prince Harry, 38, and his 72-year-old father, King Charles, have remained in contact.
Even though the relationship between the father and son has been tense on occasion, people close to the King say that the door is always open and that Prince Harry and Meghan are always welcome.
Despite their strained relationship, all indications are that the King is still planning to invite Harry and Meghan to his coronation later this year.
Prince Harry spoke to journalist Tom Bradby in anticipation of the release of his memoir “Spare” on January 10. He said that he would love to have his father and brother back in his life, but they have shown no willingness to reconcile. During the ITV interview, aired on Sunday, Harry said he wanted a family, not an institution.
Harry said the royal family, his family, feels it is better to keep him and Meghan as the villains.
Prince Harry has been doing a lot of speaking out lately, and in another interview, which also aired on Sunday, he sat down with Anderson Cooper for the TV show “60 Minutes.” Harry told Cooper that every time he has tried to reconcile with the family in private, there have been leaks and planting of stories that negatively portray him and his wife.
According to Harry, the Palace has released statements to protect other family members but refuse to do the same for him and his family. Harry felt that their silence became a betrayal.
Since Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, they have revealed the royal family’s “dirty laundry,” starting with the Oprah Winfrey Interview in 2021.
Harry has been speaking about his strained relationship with his father and brother since leaving the UK.
In December 2022, Netflix released a popular documentary about the royal couple, which detailed their love story and the experiences that led to their decision to leave the UK and move to the US.
In the documentary, Harry and Meghan said the UK tabloids were brutal toward Meghan, targeting her any chance they got. Harry went as far as to accuse his brother, Prince William’s press team of planting and leaking stories about him and Meghan to cover up for William. He also spoke about how he felt betrayed when the Palace refused to put out statements protecting Meghan, but put a statement out to protect William almost immediately after a negative story about him emerged.
Harry’s new book, “Spare,” reveals even more juicy details.
