Bengal tiger killed a grandfather and his grandson within 24 hours of each other on February 12 and 13.

Chetan, 18, was the first victim of a tiger attack in Karnataka, India on February 12. When he was attacked, he was working on a coffee plantation near a forest.

The family’s tragedy continued 12 hours later when Chetan’s grandfather Raju, a 75-year-old Jenu tribesman from Karnataka, was mauled by a tiger believed to be the same one that attacked Chetan. He was killed in his neighborhood near Nagarahole National Park.

Tragically, Raju had to attend the funeral of his own grandson.

Tragedies happened too quickly for the family to mourn properly. Jayamma, 56, was devastated when she learned of the deaths of two of her relatives. She collapsed and died after hearing the news.

Authorities believe the elderly man and his grandson were killed by the same tiger, despite the fact that they were killed roughly two miles apart.

When Chetan’s father intervened during the initial attack on his son, he was severely injured.

According to local media, forest officers handed the boy’s parents a check for $3,013 after the first incident.

Following the second attack, authorities and forest officials launched an effort to locate and capture the tiger.

The locals believed the tiger had grown too old to hunt and were afraid it would attack people instead. When it began attacking humans, they declared that the only option was to kill the tiger.

Authorities believed the wild Bengal tiger was injured because Chetan and his father repeatedly tried to beat it away.

According to one forest official, a team of around 250 people was assembled to track down the elusive beast. Thirty trap cameras, five elephants, and three cages were used to capture the tiger.

The tiger was discovered hiding near a park entrance on February 14. The team used tranquilizers to return the 13-year-old tiger to the park.
