18-Year-Old Charged with Stabbing of 14-Year-Old Girl He Met Online

Two teens, an 18-year old boy and a 14-year-old girl, met online and arranged a meeting.

The young man, Julian Antonio Pinedo, traveled several miles from Monmouth, Illinois, to Springfield, Illinois to meet the girl.

When he arrived at the girl’s home (her parents weren’t home), she refused to become intimate with him, causing him to become violent and he stabbed her.

The girls called their parents after she was attacked.  The parents rushed back to the house after calling the police.

Officers at the crime scene found the girl bleeding with multiple stab wounds. The girl and her younger sibling were the only ones at home during the incident. The girl’s parents were out, and the girl’s sister had been asleep in her bedroom.

By the time police arrived, Pinedo had already fled the area. An officer from the Waterford Township Police Department apprehended him and took him into custody without incident.

Pinedo was arrested and charged with the assault and stabbing of the 14-year-old Springfield girl, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The attacker appeared in court on Friday, January 27 and was ordered to be held on a $2 million bond. He will next appear in court on February 7. He was charged with attempted murder and faces a long sentence if convicted.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard announced that the teen girl is recovering from her wounds and is in stable condition.

On Friday, Sheriff Bouchard reminded people, especially youngsters, about the dangers of meeting someone online. He advised people that it was safer to meet with online strangers in a public setting and not to share information like addresses or information that can lead someone to track a location.
