An army engineer fraudulently reported a bomb threat, causing a commotion at an Indian airport. Because he had missed two previous flights that day, the engineer was attempting to prevent his plane from taking off without him.
Ajmeer Bhadraiah, 59, an engineer for India’s Military Engineering Service, grew enraged after failing to board the 10:15 a.m. IndiGo Airlines flight after missing his earlier 5:15 a.m. departure on Monday, February 20.
Bhadraiah was attempting to travel from Hyderabad to Chennai. Due to his late arrival at the gate, the individual was reportedly denied boarding at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
According to airport personnel, the man argued with airline personnel and insisted on boarding the flight.
Bhadraiah, who needed to get to work in Chennai right away, requested that the airline accommodate him, but they refused.
The man then called police, claiming there was a bomb on his plane and requesting that the plane not take off.
Inspector R. Srinivas of the airport police said he immediately contacted the airport’s bomb threat assessment committee after getting the call.
Bhadraiah, who was still at the terminal, was questioned by police about the threat.
He admitted that he had made up the threat in order to detain the flight.
Bhadraiah’s behavior was denounced by police, who said that other passengers were inconvenienced by the airport’s enhanced security measures and the delays caused by the fake bomb fear.
Local officials apprehended Bhadraiah, who is now facing allegations of Aviation Act violations and intimidation.
