A 24-year-old woman identified as Irene Torres was killed on January 29 by her ex-boyfriend and was found stuffed in a plastic container in his closet.

Nashville Metropolitan Police arrested Dwayne Herelle, Jr., 28, a Tennessee resident, on January 29 after he admitted he killed Torres.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, the couple had an argument that led to the stabbing, outside Torres’ home in Old Hickory. Torres’ parents checked the CCTV footage on Sunday morning and saw footage of Herelle dragging Torres away with him.

When the police interrogated Herelle, he said that the last time he saw Torres was on Friday. Torres’ father went to Herelle’s apartment and asked him about his daughter, and was told that she was at the Doubletree Downtown hotel.

On the way to the hotel, the suspect admitted to the young woman’s father that he killed her. He said that he stabbed his daughter, put her in his car trunk, wrapped her body in a comforter, and stuck her inside the container in his apartment closet.

Family and friends were in shock about what happened.

Herelle has been charged with homicide and is currently being held without bond.
