Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke suffered minor injuries after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a gate in Malibu, California on March 15.
The 97-year-old actor reportedly skidded on the wet road before losing control of his car and crashing into a gate.
According to reports, the elderly actor suffered a bloody nose and mouth as a result of the car accident. He also sustained a possible concussion.
Officers from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene to find the actor in his LS 500 Lexus.
Officers from the Los Angeles Fire Department treated Van Dyke at the scene for his injuries. The 97-year-old man, however, did not accompany paramedics to the hospital and was reportedly picked up by a friend who drove him home.
Police officers filed a report with the Department of Motor Vehicles, requesting that the celebrity retake his driving tests.
There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol were to blame for the crash.
This year’s crash comes nearly a decade after the actor was involved in a more serious accident in Los Angeles that resulted in him being rescued from his burning car.
Van Dyke had no idea his car had caught fire until first responders pulled him out. He told reporters at the time that the car began making noises that he initially mistook for a flat tire before it began to smoke and burn.
Jason Pennington, the rescuer at the time of the earlier accident, said he saw the smoking Jaguar by the side of the road with an elderly man hunched over the wheel and he pulled over to help Van Dyke.
Dick Van Dyke is best known for his 1960s TV show “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” the 1963 film Bye Bye Birdie, the 1964 film Mary Poppins, and the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
