Actor Ben Affleck has opened up about what his wife Jennifer Lopez said to him after the famous viral moment at the Grammys in which he appeared bored with the ceremony and annoyed with his wife.
In a popular video, Jennifer Lopez can be seen snapping at Ben Affleck, but he later told The Hollywood Reporter that he had a great time.
Affleck told the interviewer that he enjoyed himself at the Grammy Awards and that he didn’t mind the face meme.
During the show, he observed the host, comedian Trevor Noah, approaching the couple’s table. He leaned in close to Lopez and told her that once the cameras started rolling, he was going to sneak away and leave Lopez and Noah alone.
After hearing what he said, Lopez became visibly upset and said, “You better f***ing not leave,” in his ear. According to Affleck, this was merely a husband and wife issue between the married couple and no big deal.
Affleck was baffled by the internet and social media meme of his disturbed face because it suggested that he was inebriated, bored, or irritated while at the event. He thought it strange that at previous occasions where he had actually been drinking, no one had ever accused him of being intoxicated.
Affleck, a recovering alcoholic, has been sober and clean since the year 2020. He said that he was content to serve as the “poster boy” for actor alcoholism and that he valued the many calls from substance abusers seeking assistance.
Soon after the Grammys, Lopez teased her husband on social media and promoted his new movie “Air” on Instagram. In the film about how Nike signed Michael Jordan and produced the hugely popular Air Jordan sneakers, Affleck co-stars with Viola Davis and Matt Damon. The eagerly awaited movie, for which he also served as producer and director, will be released next month.
Affleck is fine with the way the Grammy meme promoted his new movie.
