California authorities arrested a man accused of shooting his girlfriend as their two little children watched helplessly, police say.

Romier Narag, 27, was arrested after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, Frances Kendra Lucero, 27, in Daly City, California, on March 6.

According to the police, Narag and Lucero got into an argument on their way back home from a family dinner. It is unclear what the argument was about.

Narag shot Lucero in the back with a 9 mm handgun as she ran toward their home in the vicinity of Westlake Shopping Center at around 7:30 pm, police said.  He reportedly shot her four times in front of their kids, aged three and four.

Responding officers from the Daly City Police Department pronounced Lucero dead at the scene and immediately arrested Narag.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with premeditated murder, child endangerment and having a concealed weapon in a car.

He was taken to the Maguire Correctional Facility.

The victim’s family is looking after the two children as they undergo social worker evaluation. Many photos show the pair posing with their children and looking like a normal, happy family.

News of Lucero’s death hit her family hard, with her sister posting a tribute on Facebook. The sister said that the deceased had been her best friend and that she was utterly devastated by the loss.

A family friend opened a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses. The campaign has raised over $43,000 so far. Lucero is described in the campaign as a beautiful person who had touched countless lives of people around her.

Authorities said that the investigation into the murder is still ongoing.
