Donald Trump’s new book will feature an anthology of letters from well-known figures to the former president.
On April 25, Trump will release “Letters to Trump,” his second book since he was president. Princess Diana, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jackson, Queen Elizabeth II, and Richard Nixon are just a few of the politicians and celebrities whose letters are said to be included in the 320-page collection.
Trump, according to a press release, carefully selected and commented on each letter he received over the course of 40 years.
In particular, readers are curious to see what Princess Diana wrote to the former President in the letters that are rumored to be included in the book.
According to Newsweek, royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams has said that the Diana letters may contain embarrassing information, and this opinion is shared by several others. Because Princess Diana treated Trump with disdain, however, it’s unlikely that the letter would contain anything that would make Trump look bad.
As members of the same social circles, Princess Diana and Donald Trump ran into each other at charity events in the 1990s. He allegedly also insulted her in his characteristic way. According to “The King: The Biography of Charles III,” a memoir published in 2022, Donald Trump relentlessly pursued Diana following her 1996 divorce from Prince Charles. This is just one of the allegations, among several.
In 2015, journalist Selena Scott wrote in People magazine that Trump showered Diana with hundreds of dollars’ worth of bouquets at Kensington Palace. Evidently, Diana represented the perfect trophy wife for Trump. Roses and orchids filled her apartment, and she worried about what to do about what she considered to be stalking. Scott recalled that later, Diana had consulted with her for guidance on how to proceed.
There have been legal questions raised since the announcement of the “Letters to Trump” book project about whether the former president has the right to reprint letters from private citizens.
Considering the former president’s taste for the spotlight, the book should be interesting.
