According to police, an eight-year-old boy was arrested in Florida after allegedly cutting the throat of another child and threatening to “kill everyone” around him.
On Saturday, March 11, around 4:30 p.m., at a home in Clermont, Florida, the eight-year-old began fighting with a 13-year-old foster child who lived with him.
According to a police report, the child, whose identity has not been made public due to his age, grabbed the older boy and began choking him, only releasing his grip when the boy complained about being unable to breathe and was able to get away from him.
When the victim later approached the eight-year-old and attempted to communicate with him, the young boy grabbed a knife from the kitchen and slashed at the older child, cutting his throat.
At the time of the incident, an adult present wrestled the knife away from the eight-year-old and handed it to another woman.
The attacker then ran away in search of the knife, threatening to “kill everyone.”
When the boy realized his search was in vain, he picked up a stick and tried to hit the victim with it, but the other children in the house took action.
When Lake County Sheriff’s Office officers arrived, they found the youngster crying and begging them not to lock him up.
The boy then kicked one of the officers and the car as they attempted to handcuff him and transport him to a juvenile detention facility.
The 13-year-old victim’s injuries were minor, despite a three-inch laceration on his neck, and he refused to be taken to a hospital after being examined by paramedics. He was alert and attentive during the medical exam, according to police.
The young boy has a history of violence and is charged with strangulation battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
