The Harris County Texas Sheriff’s Office received a call on Saturday evening, March 11, stating that the caller had not seen one of his neighbors in several months. Another man had been seen coming and going to and from the house. Police went to the residence to conduct a welfare check on Kilwinning Drive in Houston.

When the cops arrived, they smelled something foul and saw flies swarming around.

According to Harris County Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland, the team entered the home and heard suddenly gunshots from inside. They discovered the body of a 63-year-old adult male, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in the bedroom.

When police searched the residence, they discovered a badly decomposed body of another man. Officers estimated that the deceased was about 64 years old. They also determined that the death occurred several months before. An autopsy is being performed to determine what happened to the decomposed man.

Officials stated that they are unsure of the two men’s relationship, but that they lived together in the house. Police say the man who shot himself appeared to have been living with the corpse for several months.

An investigation into the case is still ongoing. The evidence points to a murder-suicide, according to police.
