Five women, aged between 18 to 22, were taken to a hospital to receive non-life-threatening medical care, according to a press release.
A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody by the police as a suspect in the shooting.
There were many upset town residents after the shooting. An unidentified neighbor reportedly told WTMJ-TV that he was so frightened that he was unable to work. Another neighbor complained that incidents like this happen too frequently. One neighbor told Fox 6 news that episodes were occurring every night and that it was heartbreaking to witness children being shot. She wants things to change.
Patterson was shot while attempting to break up a fight, according to his sister Mari. She claimed to be one of the five young women hurt in the incident when speaking to the media. Her brother was on the ground when she glanced down the street, so she embraced him and held him for as long as she could.
A bright and honorable student at Milwaukee Excellence Charter School, Patterson was a sophomore.
Another neighbor reported that another black parent had to bury their child and that her 16-year-old daughter was killed by gunshot in the same neighborhood almost three years ago. She claimed that Milwaukee is currently a bad place to raise children.
