Missing Chicago Woman Found Dead and Tied Up In Shopping Cart

A Chicago woman missing for two months was found dead, wrapped in sheets and tied to a shopping cart near where she went missing.

Rosa Chacon, 21, was last seen on surveillance footage on January 18 as she got into a rideshare outside her parent’s home in Chicago.

Rosa’s mother told a local news outlet that before leaving the house that day, her daughter told her she would take an Uber to her destination and back. Rosa, according to her mother, did not tell her where she was going, who she was meeting, or who ordered the Uber. Rosa, according to the distraught mom, did not have anything with her, including her ID or a coat.

According to an Uber representative, the company was unable to release information due to policy and privacy concerns.

The family complains that the police did little to assist them after they reported Rosa missing in January. Rosa’s boyfriend, Alejandro Guzman, stated that the police informed them that a crime must be committed before they will take action.

Her body was discovered around 10:45 a.m. on March 15, about two miles from where she was last seen. Her tattoos helped her family identify her.

She was discovered wrapped in sheets and tied in a shopping cart in a back alley.

An autopsy is being performed by the Cook County medical examiner to determine her cause of death.

Rosa’s father, Jose Lucio, said it was unusual for Rosa to leave without calling or texting, as they usually hear from her whenever she is away. He said his daughter would call the next day or within an hour of leaving to let them know she was safe.

On March 6, the family hired a private investigator to assist in the search for their daughter. They shared a missing person’s flyer on social media and announced on Thursday that she had been found dead.

The family believes that clues to what happened to their daughter will be revealed when police learn who ordered the Uber.
