In the most recent Amazon Prime Video series, “Swarm,” Malia Obama, 24, the older daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama, helped write an episode. This was Malia’s first time writing for TV, and she has been praised for the way she combines horror with a strange, darkly funny plot. Donald Glover and Janine Nabers made the thriller show, which first aired on March 17.
“Swarm” is an eight-part thriller about an obsessive fan of a pop star modeled on Beyoncé. The fan’s name is Dre, and she is played by the talented Dominque Fishback. She would do anything to protect her favorite celebrity, Ni’jah, who is played by the gifted Nirine S. Brown.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Today, co-creator Nabers said that Malia Obama helped write Episode 5 of the show, which is called “Girl, Bye.” She praised the oldest daughter of the Obamas for her work on the suspenseful series, saying that some of her ideas were great, funny, and a little bit crazy. She said that Malia is a very skilled writer who has made a lot of contributions and is hardworking and dedicated to her work.
Obama and Nabers wrote “Girl, Bye,” which is about halfway through the mini-series.
Malia started working as a production assistant on the Halle Berry show “Extant” in 2014, and a year later she was an intern on “Girls,” which was made by Lena Dunham. Glover hired Obama to work on the “Swarm” staff in March 2022.
Glover has also said nice things about Malia’s writing and work ethic. Last year, he said that Malia, who graduated from Harvard, is a talented, driven, and focused woman.
