Eighteen-month-old twins, a boy and a girl, accidentally drowned in the family pool in Oklahoma after their great-grandmother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, left the house’s back door open.
The twins’ mother found them at the bottom of the pool on Thursday, March 16, at around 10:45 a.m. They were pronounced dead at 1 p.m.
When their mother Jenny Callazzo found little Locklyn and Loreli at the bottom of their pool, they were unconscious.
When the Oklahoma City Fire Department’s first responders arrived, they observed Callazzo, 37, frantically performing CPR on the twins.
Callazzo lives in Cobblestone, Oklahoma, with her husband, marketing executive Sonny Callazzo, 42, their six children, and her grandmother. She is a stay-at-home mother who runs an online boutique shop.
A pool with algae-filled, greenish water can be seen in aerial footage of the residence.
The twins’ deaths were looked into, but police say it doesn’t seem like it was deliberate.
The toddlers were still receiving CPR while being transported to Baptist Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
In a statement, the Oklahoma City Fire Department said that they were unsure of how long the infants had been in the pool.
