A domestic conflict in New Jersey led to the death of two people, including a little girl.
The small town of Roselle, New Jersey, has been shaken to its core after the brutal axe murder of a mother and her young daughter on April 19. Police believe the violent incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.
The victims, 45-year-old Keisha Morrison and her nine-year-old daughter Kelsey, were found murdered in their home, their lifeless bodies concealed beneath a bed. Authorities uncovered the gruesome scene and discovered the murder weapon – an axe – hidden under the mattress.
Investigators have arrested Everoy J. Morrison, 44, a suspect in the horrific crime. He was taken into custody in Maryland during a traffic stop involving a stolen silver BMW with New Jersey plates. Currently detained at a Baltimore detention center, Everoy is facing charges related to the stolen car and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
In a tragic twist, the suspect is the half-brother of the deceased woman’s husband, Gary Morrison. Everoy had been residing in the basement of the family’s home, but according to Keisha’s sister-in-law, Atasha Scott, Keisha had requested that he leave the property. Unfortunately, Everoy refused to comply.
Gary Morrison discovered his wife and daughter’s remains wrapped in sheets, along with the bloody murder weapon. He also found evidence of an attempted cleanup at the crime scene, as some bloodstains on the floor had been partially removed.
This horrific tragedy has left the Roselle community in mourning, particularly as it occurred just days before Kelsey was due to celebrate her 10th birthday.
