A family of four in Las Vegas were living a day that was supposed to be ordinary until a bullet struck two of their young boys, killing one of them.
The young brothers, who were six and nine years old, were watching “SpongeBob SquarePants” when the tragedy occurred.
On Friday, March 10, SirArmani Clark (also known as Armani), 9, and his younger brother Honor Tate, 6, were sitting on the couch when Armani was fatally shot after a bullet passed through their apartment wall.
According to their mother Justine Tate, if she had been given the option to take the bullet in place of her son, she would have done so without hesitation.
Armani was hit in the head by the fatal bullet and Honor was hit in the leg.
The parents rushed into the living room after hearing the gunshot from another room.
Tate recalled the events leading up to finding her son in a pool of blood. She said that they ran into the living room. They heard the younger boy whimper, but Armani was silent.
The mother reported that the nine-year-old was unresponsive. She remembered the moment that the life left his body.
At Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, Armani was pronounced dead. Honor is in recovery.
Approximately one week prior to the tragic shooting, the couple and the boys had just relocated from Reno to Las Vegas.
Tate mentioned that it has been difficult for Honor because he keeps asking for his older brother and won’t leave the house.
The shot was fired by a neighbor showing off a brand-new weapon. The two boys were hit by the neighbor’s gunshot that entered their apartment.
When the neighbor was taken into custody, authorities found out he was a convicted felon.
