A tragic car accident occurred on a Tennessee highway north of Nashville, on I-24 West near mile marker 23, early on Sunday, March 23. According to Robertson County Emergency Medical Services, the vehicle was discovered at approximately 2:00 a.m., flipped over and severely damaged. All of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
Six young girls between the ages of one and 18 died in the collision.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the victims were not wearing seatbelts.
Two additional adults, a man and a woman, were reportedly injured. Saira Reyes, age 34, was badly hurt and received emergency care at the scene. She was then transported by air ambulance to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Anthony Gallardo, age 18, the driver, was transported to TriStar Skyline Trauma Center in Nashville. His current condition is stable.
A second damaged vehicle was spotted nearby. The driver reportedly sustained no injuries.
Authorities urged residents to take the time to ensure that all vehicle occupants are wearing seatbelts.
