Wisconsin Woman Dies in Freak Accident After Husband’s Funeral

On the first of April, a heartrending incident occurred when a 42-year-old woman from Wisconsin, Sara Nowak, perished in a freak automobile accident just five hours after bidding her spouse adieu at his memorial service.

Sara Nowak’s husband, Louis Nowak, succumbed to a six-month-long battle with cancer on March 19. Following his interment on Saturday, Sara tragically lost her life in a solitary car crash on State Highway 106 near Calkins Road in Palmyra, Wisconsin.

Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath reported that Sara was a passenger in the vehicle when the driver allegedly lost control. Regrettably, both occupants died on the spot as the car veered off the road, landed in a ditch, and overturned, ejecting one passenger. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but were unable to save the two individuals who had already sustained fatal injuries.

Patricia Cartwright, Sara’s mother, expressed her belief that her daughter is now reunited with her husband.

Randal Cartwright, Sara’s father, characterized her as a joyful individual who consistently assisted others. He expressed the emotional turmoil his daughter and son-in-law experienced over the past months as she tended to him during his fight against his illness. Randal was devastated to learn of Sara’s untimely death just five and a half hours after his son-in-law’s burial.

Louis and Sara each had children from previous marriages, totaling six offspring. Randal Cartwright mentioned their compatibility in a local news interview prior to their 2017 nuptials.

While the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the tragic accident, it is evident that the community has suffered the loss of two beloved individuals.
