A man who deceitfully lured a teenager to his residence with the allure of Disney cups has been handed a five-decade prison term for her savage killing.
The shocking crime, committed by 53-year-old Arthur Jensen of Sheldon, Illinois, took the life of 17-year-old Adara Bunn in 2019.
On May 15, Iroquois County Circuit Court Judge Michael Sabol confirmed Jensen’s half-century sentence, following a report from the Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The fatal incident occurred on August 5, 2019. Bunn, who had previously bought Pocahontas cups from Jensen at a garage sale, was lured back to his home with the prospect of more Disney collectibles, unknowingly walking into a deadly trap.
Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Quinlan expressed his horror at the nature of the crime, branding it one of the most abhorrent he had ever encountered.
The chilling event came to light when distressed neighbors, hearing screams from Jensen’s home, called 911. Jensen, who confessed to the murder when police arrived, was immediately apprehended after the officers discovered Bunn’s lifeless body inside the house.
Further investigation revealed that Bunn had first met Jensen at a garage sale a week before her death. He exploited her fondness for Disney memorabilia to draw her into his home.
Known affectionately as Sissy, Bunn was an ambitious student aiming to become a veterinarian and was about to start her junior year in high school.
