Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, was spotted hiking near her Montecito, California home after skipping her father-in-law’s coronation ceremony to stay home with the kids.
Her jewelry caught the attention of the paparazzi, as she chose to wear Princess Diana’s famous Cartier watch, likely in honor of her late mother-in-law.
Meghan was accompanied by her friends, Heather Dorak and Markus Anderson. The former actress wore a black tank top, leggings, a fedora, a bandana around her neck, Victoria Beckham sunglasses, and lots of meaningful jewelry, including Diana’s watch and a diamond tennis bracelet believed to have been gifted to Diana by King Charles.
The Cartier watch is believed to be among Meghan’s favorite jewelry pieces, as she wears it almost every day. The Bentley & Skinner diamond tennis bracelet she paired with the Cartier watch is special to her too. She has worn it numerous times, including in her famous interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Two of the bracelet’s diamonds were even used to create Meghan’s three-stone engagement ring in 2017.
That’s a lot of jewelry to wear on a hike, but some speculate she was making a statement.
While Prince Harry briefly appeared at King Charles III’s coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, Meghan stayed home to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday. There was much previous debate over whether the couple would attend the coronation in the UK. However, Harry was not invited to participate in many of the activities over the weekend and returned home after the ceremony to be with his family.
During an interview on ITV’s “This Morning,” royal biographer Omid Scobie explained that Meghan chose not to attend the coronation over the weekend to safeguard “her peace.”
