The remains of a toddler girl, identified as Oaklee Mae Snow from Oklahoma, were discovered approximately 30 miles from her last known location, hidden in a drawer in an abandoned house.
Court documents reveal that the girl’s mother, 22-year-old Madison Marshall, accused her boyfriend, 25-year-old Roan Waters, of concealing the body in a drawer at a deserted Indiana residence.
The medical examiner has not yet confirmed the identity of the remains, although they seem to belong to a young, blonde-haired child.
A witness reported seeing the couple leaving an Indianapolis drug house carrying “what looked like a child wrapped in a blanket,” with the toddler appearing lifeless.
Last month’s arrests of Marshall and Waters led to additional charges being filed against them. Waters, initially arrested on unrelated charges, now faces one count of murder, while Marshall is charged with two counts of neglect leading to death.
Authorities believe the girl was killed a month before her second birthday. Oaklee Mae Snow’s mother reportedly removed her lifeless body from the Indianapolis drug house on February 9.
Marshall is alleged to have abducted Oaklee and her seven-month-old brother, Coleton, from their father’s home in Cromwell, Oklahoma in mid-January. The couple brought the children to Indianapolis, where Waters’ family resides. Coleton was left alone in the Indianapolis house but was eventually reunited with his father after authorities were notified.
Marshall was arrested in Harnett County and extradited to Marion County, Indiana. Last week, Marshall led police to the vacant Morgantown house where the girl’s body was found.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said the charges portray a troubling account of the child’s death and subsequent abandonment.
