The lifeless bodies of a pregnant mother and her two-year-old son were discovered in a home in a small Idaho town, in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.
According to authorities, Elizabeth Lawley, 33, who was six months pregnant, and her son, aged two, died from gunshot wounds. Sheriffs received distressing reports indicating that the bodies were found in a room at Lawley’s father’s home in Wallace, Idaho, at about 8:30 pm on Wednesday, May 17. Lawley’s father had returned home around 6 pm, thinking that his daughter and grandson were taking a nap in another room. When he went to check on them a few hours later, he found their lifeless bodies in their room.
Wallace, a town located east of Coeur d’Alene along Interstate 90 in Shoshone County, was left in shock by the tragedy. The sheriff’s office shared details of the incident through a press release posted on their Facebook page the following day..
Preliminary investigations strongly suggest that Lawley shot her young son before ending her own life, Sheriff Holly Lindsey revealed. Deputies from the sheriff’s office remained at the home from 8:30 pm until the early morning hours, conducting a search and processing the scene.
Captain Jeff Lee, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said that the crime scene and evidence gathered strongly suggest a murder-suicide, emphasizing that Lawley’s father is not considered a suspect in the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities awaiting the complete analysis of all evidence, including the medical examiner’s report, to gain further insights into the tragic event.
