An 18-year-old resident of Nash, Texas, was taken into custody and charged with capital murder following the alleged shooting of his parents, sister, and brother.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 23, local authorities received an emergency call about a young man, identified as Cesar Olalde, inflicting violence on his family members and voicing suicidal thoughts. Upon arrival, officers found Olalde secluded inside a house.
Nash Police officer Craig Buster’s probable cause affidavit indicates that Olalde himself contacted law enforcement, confessing his crime. After officers successfully negotiated his surrender, an ensuing search of the property unveiled the lifeless bodies of his parents, Reuben Olalde and Aida Garcia, older sister Lisbet Olalde, and younger brother Oliver Olalde, all gathered in a bathroom.
As stated in the affidavit, the victims had initially been shot in different areas of the residence before their bodies were moved to the bathroom. Spent shell casings littered the house, and blood was scattered throughout.
This horrifying event was revealed when a concerned coworker of Lisbet Olalde, noticing her absence at work, went to check on her, accompanied by a family member. Upon entering the home, they were met by Cesar Olalde with a firearm. The coworker subsequently informed authorities that Olalde admitted to killing his family, alleging they were cannibals intending to hurt him.
Olalde was later presented before the Bowie County court, where his bail was set at $10 million.
Nash, a small community situated near the Arkansas state line, has a population of roughly 3,800.
