In a heart-wrenching driveway accident in Oklahoma, a one-year-old baby lost her life, and a two-year-old toddler is now battling for survival. The terrible incident occurred when the young children were playing in a driveway, and a pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old man backed into them.
According to a statement from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 5 pm on Monday, April 24. A 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck inadvertently ran over the two little girls while reversing. State troopers and emergency responders rushed to the scene as soon as they were notified, which was about two miles south of Cleora in Delaware County. Given the severity of the injuries, the children were immediately transported to a nearby healthcare facility.
The driver has been identified as Scott Barr.
Tragically, the one-year-old succumbed to her head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at St. Francis Hospital in Vinita. The two-year-old was reportedly in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, suffering from internal injuries.
Police have not released the identities of the young victims due to their ages. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has initiated an investigation to determine the precise circumstances leading to the accident. It remains unclear whether Barr, an Afton resident, is related to the children involved.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the case, including whether they intend to arrest and charge Barr in connection with the death of the young girl.
