Two Dead in Shooting Over Peeping Tom Dispute

A dispute over an alleged “peeping Tom” incident led to a fatal shooting in Rhode Island, claiming two lives and injuring a teenager. 

The suspect, James Harrison, 52, was killed during a police chase and standoff.

Authorities have not officially released the identities of the victims; however, sources indicate they were Harrison’s mother and an adult neighbor. A 15-year-old girl, with connections to the individuals involved, sustained injuries but is anticipated to recover.

As per local media, Harrison was discovered spying on a neighbor before the incident. Police were called to his residence past midnight on Tuesday, but Harrison did not respond. A neighbor reported a loud sound around 7:30 am on Wednesday, witnessing Harrison exit his home shortly before emergency services arrived.

Johnston Police Chief Mark Vieira confirmed that the police received two 911 calls reporting gunshots. Consequently, a lookout notice was issued for Harrison. An off-duty officer found Harrison’s car at a cemetery, which instigated a police chase.

According to Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist, Harrison aggressively drove towards the incoming police officers, nearly causing a collision. He continued his perilous driving on Plainfield Pike, resulting in a crash with a police cruiser and a rock. When Harrison exited the car he then brandished a firearm at the officers, necessitating their use of lethal force. luckily,nNo officers were harmed during this confrontation.

When Harrison exited the car, he aimed a firearm at the officers, which led them to fatally shoot him. Luckily, no officers were injured during the standoff.
