Arrested For Fatally Shooting High School Student in the Head

A 16-year-old Kentucky boy has been charged with murder and several other offenses following a daylight shooting that resulted in the death of an esteemed high school student.

The male suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his age, is facing charges of murder, possession of a handgun by a minor, and tampering with physical evidence according to a press release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. It is currently unknown whether the accused has entered a plea or obtained legal representation. 

Gaymee Paw, aged 16, was shot in broad delight on Willet Road near Ben Hawes Park in Owensboro at around 12:30 pm on June 21, as reported by the sheriff’s office in a press release. She later passed away at a local hospital.

Following the identification and swift arrest of a suspect, search warrants were obtained and executed by detectives. The Kentucky State Police Laboratory is currently processing the recovered evidence.

Sheriff Brad Youngman informed the Messenger-Inquirer that the suspect and the victim were acquainted, though he did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship. The alleged perpetrator is said to be detained at the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

According to the obituary, Paw attended Owensboro High School. Originally from Thailand, the 16-year-old girl possessed a fervent passion for volleyball and had aspirations of becoming a teacher.
