A 29-year-old restaurant worker, who disappeared after attending a concert featuring Australian rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, has been found dead in the Chicago River.
The discovery was made near the 1300 block of North Elston Avenue, close to the Salt Shed – a popular venue situated in the old Morton Salt factory. The body was recovered on Saturday, June 17, at approximately 9:45 am.
Noah Enos, 29, vanished on June 12, following the concert he attended with a co-worker. His last known messages and calls were reported to have been sent around 5 pm, according to AT&T, despite friends receiving texts from his phone between 7 and 10 pm. This discrepancy led his family to suspect foul play. Enos’ girlfriend, Nicole Wijs, revealed that the last footage of him was from a surveillance video at approximately 9:30 pm on the day he went missing. The footage showed him talking with some people at the concert before he left and headed north on Elston Avenue.
Authorities are currently conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of Enos’ death, with the investigation being handled by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Noah Enos, who relocated to Chicago a year ago, worked in a restaurant and also did graphic design work for a T-shirt company. Described as intelligent and caring, Enos was known to have suffered from depression and anxiety. During the search, friends and family posted his pictures and shared a missing person flyer on social media. The circumstances surrounding Enos’ disappearance and death remain under investigation by the authorities.
