Game show host, Drew Carey, made a surprising announcement during the filming of the 51st season of “The Price Is Right.”
The long-beloved CBS show will be bidding farewell to its iconic Bob Barker Studio in Television City, Hollywood. The surprising news was broken to fans via a video posted on the official Instagram page of the show on June 23.
Speaking about the upcoming changes, Drew Carey stated, “This stage has been our home for 51 years. I would often say that there was magic in the wood, a result of all the good times, laughter, and joy that were shared in this studio.”
The last episode of the game show to be shot at the Bob Barker Studio aired on June 26. Drew Carey took over hosting duties in 2007 after the retirement of the esteemed Bob Barker, who stepped down at age 83.
Carey reminisced about the honor of walking the same stage as revered personalities like Bob Barker and Carol Burnett, expressing his gratitude for having such an incredible job. The revelation about the show’s relocation has shocked and saddened numerous fans.
“The Price Is Right” will now call Haven Studios in Glendale, California its home. Drew Carey voiced his desire to bring all the good energy from the old studio to the new location and encouraged fans to tune into the “historic” last episode on the old stage and to bring positivity to the new venue.
Although some fans are excited about the new filming studio, others mourn the departure from the beloved Bob Barker Studio, which was home to the show for over five decades. Questions about the motive behind leaving such a historic place have arisen.
As the end of an era draws near, “The Price Is Right” bids adieu to its long-standing filming locale and gears up for a fresh start in Glendale.
