Four Dead in Idaho Shooting

Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with a shooting that claimed the lives of four people in Kellogg, Idaho, on Sunday evening, June 18.

The incident occurred around 7:30 pm at a residential complex near the Mountain View Congregational Church.

The Kellogg Police Department and the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, acting collaboratively, were the first responders at the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered four people who had succumbed to gunshot wounds. The deceased were found in multi-dwelling units behind the church.

A police affidavit stated that a suspect identified as Majorjon Kaylor, 31, was arrested and charged with four counts of murder in the deaths of Kenneth Guardipee, 65, Kenna Guardipee, 41, Devin Smith, 18, and Aiken Smith, 16.

Police documents released on Tuesday revealed that five days before Kaylor allegedly shot his four neighbors, one of the victims allegedly exposed himself to Kaylor’s wife and daughter. According to the documents, on June 13 police were called and investigated an incident of alleged obscene behavior in the town of Kellogg, about 37 miles east of Coeur d’Alene. The affidavit does not indicate whether the accused neighbor was arrested for the incident.

On the night of the murders, Kaylor and his wife got into an argument with their neighbor’s mother about the alleged indecent exposure, after which the four victims were murdered.

When interrogated by police, Kaylor admitted that he “lost it.” Kaylor’s wife Kaylie said she heard her husband say he did what he had to do to protect his children.
