Former President Donald Trump has made clear his intention not to involve his daughter, Ivanka Trump, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in his administration if he wins another term, attributing this to their past experience as “too distressing.”
Trump, currently in the running for the 2024 Presidential election, disclosed this during a conversation with The New York Post on June 19, 2023.
In his first presidential term, both Ivanka and Kushner served as influential consultants, making significant contributions to both domestic and foreign policy. Despite their roles, Trump has decided not to expose them to the severe public scrutiny and critique they endured in the past. He stated that it was difficult to watch them under attack and believes it would be in their best interest not to be involved in his potential second term.
The former President also commended the impressive work his daughter and son-in-law performed during his first term. He particularly appreciated Kushner’s Middle East achievements, labeling them as “outstanding.”
The decision has provoked varied responses from political observers. Some predict that the absence of Ivanka and Kushner could impact the dynamics and decision-making in a second Trump administration. Others see it as an attempt to safeguard his family from the strain and harsh criticisms associated with high-level positions.
Since their departure from the White House, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have remained relatively quiet and focused primarily on their business activities.
