San Antonio Spurs rookie, Victor Wembanyama, alleged that he was grabbed from behind by Britney Spears as he entered a restaurant at a Las Vegas casino.

Wembanyama claimed that his security detail, who was accompanying him, pushed the pop star away, though he was unaware of Spears’ identity at the time and did not actually see her.

In response, Spears denied the allegations, stating that she had only tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention and offer congratulations on his success as the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft.

According to Spears, Wembanyama’s security team then forcefully struck her in the face without looking back, causing her glasses to come off. A report was filed with the Las Vegas police regarding the incident at the Aria Resort & Casino, though no further details were provided. Spears’ attorney declined to comment, citing the ongoing police investigation.

The 7′,3″ Wembanyama confirmed that his security had advised him not to stop for anyone, anticipating that pausing could cause a commotion and attract a crowd. He said that someone called out to him and grabbed him from behind, but he didn’t see the person as he continued walking. Security teams intervened and pushed the individual away. Wembanyama was unaware of Spears’ involvement until he was informed by his team’s security later on.

Both TMZ and Spears’ accounts matched in stating that she tapped Wembanyama on the shoulder, resulting in her being struck and her glasses being knocked off. Wembanyama expressed surprise upon learning the identity of the person involved, mentioning that he never saw her face.

Wembanyama is set to make his NBA Summer League debut with the Spurs on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets in Las Vegas. Despite the incident, he signed autographs for fans and continued with his practice sessions as scheduled.
