A Georgia mother stands accused of murdering her seven-year-old daughter, whose decomposing body was found inside a closet in their apartment.

Alondra Hobbs was arrested on June 29 on charges of felony murder and second-degree cruelty, according to a Facebook post by the DeKalb County Police Department. She is presently receiving treatment at a local hospital, and authorities have confirmed she will be taken into custody upon her discharge.

The disturbing discovery was made after an individual called emergency services from a disconnected cell phone on June 25, reporting a deceased child in a closet on Misty Waters Drive in Decatur, a suburb of Atlanta. A police report stated that a neighbor had not seen the tenant for several months since she moved out. Officers who responded to the call discovered the lifeless body of a seven-year-old girl in the closet, showing signs of decomposition and a full head of hair. The victim has been identified as Alivia Hobbs-Jordan.

The man who discovered the grim scene became suspicious after noticing the front door of the apartment was wide open and a foul odor was emanating from inside. Upon investigating, he spotted the child’s arm sticking out from the closet door, prompting him to contact authorities immediately.

Recently released court records indicate that authorities believe Hobbs intentionally abandoned her daughter in her stroller with no intention of returning. They allege that she left the child in the closet at some point between February 28 and June 25.

Hobbs’ aunt, Latrience Robinson, expressed her disbelief, saying, “I just didn’t see that in her. We all have issues, but I didn’t think she would do something like this to her kids.”

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist with the family’s funeral expenses. The fundraising page, organized by Tammy Blassingame, who identifies herself as Alivia’s grandmother, conveys a deep sense of loss and a determination to seek justice for the young girl.
