Kidnapped Baby Dies in Ohio Crash

A baby died following an incident involving a Chevrolet Camaro crashing into a home in Ohio on Tuesday, June 27.

The alleged abductor, Jonathon Baker, 23, reportedly took the child following a disagreement with his girlfriend and was severely injured in the ensuing crash.

The Tiffin Police Department’s Chief, David Pauly, revealed that police had received an alert for a lookout on a man from the neighboring village of North Baltimore. The alert indicated the man, armed and dangerous, had forcibly abducted a seven-month-old child and was heading towards Tiffin in a distinctive yellow Camaro. He had issued threats to harm both himself and the baby.

An off-duty patrol officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop it. The suspect, however, increased his speed, leading to a high-speed chase. The chase ended in tragedy when the suspect lost control, veered off the road, drove through a front lawn, and crashed into a house, which was moved from its base by the impact.

Upon reaching the crash site, law enforcement had to break the rear window of the Camaro to retrieve the gravely injured infant. The responding officers reported the baby was bleeding from the head and struggled to breathe. Both the infant and the suspect were airlifted to a local hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the baby did not survive.

A loaded firearm and discharged cartridges were found inside the suspect’s car. The Fostoria Police and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office are collaborating with the Tiffin Police Department in the ongoing investigation.
