Famous singer/actress, Madonna, 64, was admitted to a New York City hospital on Saturday night, June 24, after being found unresponsive.
Reports say that she was intubated for at least a night. The singer, however, has since regained consciousness and is gradually recuperating.
Madonna’s representative, Guy Oseary, confirmed the incident via a social media post on Instagram. He elaborated that Madonna had come down with a severe bacterial infection, necessitating a stay in the Intensive Care Unit.
Madonna was released from the hospital on the morning of Thursday, June 29, and her representative expressed hope for her quick recovery. Yet, all future engagements for Madonna, inclusive of her highly anticipated “Celebration” tour, slated to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, are presently suspended. The tour, marking her 40 years in the music industry, was originally set to span 43 global cities through January 2024.
Oseary mentioned that the tour is delayed indefinitely, and updates regarding rescheduled performances will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.
Madonna had envisioned the tour as a tribute to New York City, the city that launched her illustrious music career. Detailed information about Madonna’s ailment and subsequent hospital stay has not been released. Sources close to the star have said that she was pushing herself too hard in advance of the big tour.
